Editor’s note:  This is LONG overdue!  I guess we’re spending $33,000 to appear impartial?  In any event this problem needs to be fixed so if this is what it takes…I suppose it’s a small price to pay.

POTTSTOWN, PA — Borough council is set to vote Monday on a proposal to pay a consultant as much as $33,500 to undertake a review of the Codes Department and its operations.

The review comes in the wake of a Mercury report Sept. 23 that the same office is the target of an investigation by a Montgomery County grand jury.

  1. I just had a porch built onto my house. I had a hard time finding a contractor that would work in Pottstown. The contractor I ended up using told me that if I lived in the historic district, he would not have done the job. If Pottstown wants to be”revitalized” they need to be more contractor friendly. It would be nice to get Contractor’s opinions of where they like to work and where they don’t.

  2. This news is not surprising given the current leadership and their resistance to change. Until Pottstown cleans house and gets new leadership that is serious about revitalization and economic development it will continue to be the “same old, same old”. Thanks for letting us all know the perception that’s out there!
