Get to know your Community at the Cluster Outreach Center at

Community Day Sponsored by Wegmans!

57 North Franklin Street, June 6th

10:00am to 1:00pm

Wegmans Leadership Group is committed to being part of Pottstown’s community life, setting an example of leadership and giving back to neighborhoods where they do business.  Wegmans has taken the Pottstown Cluster Outreach Center under their wing to offer their expertise and generosity on how to be more productive and efficient in our Food Pantry and Dry Goods Department.

After spending some time at the Cluster Outreach Center, Wegmans’ team brainstormed and came up with some new ideas, equipment and technology to run an efficient day to day operation to help better serve their clients.  Additional shelves will be installed to create more space; carts that are easier to manipulate will help transport food and dry goods throughout the building and coats, hats and gloves will now be used for volunteers in the walk-in refrigerator.

All these items and time are donated by Wegmans.  We decided to make the day a special event – Community Day!

Clock Is Ticking On Consolidating 4 Pottstown Fire Companies

POTTSTOWN, PA — For more than three years, borough government has been urging Pottstown’s four independent fire companies to come up with some plan for consolidating.

Earlier this month, the clock started ticking for real when the borough issued a letter to all four companies notifying them that the fire service agreement between them and the borough would be terminated at the end of the year and starting in 2015, the borough will only sign one fire services agreement with a single, consolidated fire company.

Unlike the police department, fire protection in Pottstown is not under the direction of borough government, but instead is provided by four independent volunteer fire companies over which Pottstown Fire Chief Richard Lengel has operational control during a fire.

But in matters of their own affairs, such as finances, the election of officers and the like, the fire companies are independent.

MCCC West Campus Culinary Student Pays It Forward In Pottstown With Meals Program

Here is some excellent Pottstown news!

A culinary student at Montgomery County Community College‘s West Campus in Pottstown is doing something to help the struggling residents of Pottstown by offering a free meal to those in need!

It’s so gratifying to see young people get involved with the community!   They bring such enthusiasm and energy to the table! Many times they think of great solutions to problems because they have the ability to think outside the traditional “box”.

This young woman needs your help and here is her story –

A Pottstown local, Julia Zion, MCCC culinary student, recently reached out to the folks of Occupy Pottstown and offspring groups, to request a little help with a very cool community project she has just started.  It’s called Wednesday Night Community Meals.  This is a pretty simple, yet powerful idea, and it goes like this:

Every Wednesday through August Julia provides a meal at the little park at Washington and Chestnut Streets in Pottstown at 7 PM.  Food and drinks are brought in and served and tables and chairs need to get to and from the playground at Zion Church.  The meal is open to the community, but is intended for those who may not have a lot of food to put on their tables now, etc.  She has had about 18 people attend the meals, but plans for up to 30.  One of Julia’s desires is to give some Pottstown folks a hand-up via a good meal.  Period.  Simple, right?

Julia is looking for some local groups to take this project on with her through the summer.  Julia could really use some volunteers and food to be donated for this Wednesday, June 27th.  But on any Wednesday during the summer, Julia can use all the help she can get!

This would be a great project for churches, scout groups, service organizations, local corporations etc…

If you would like to donate food, money or your time, please contact this amazing young woman at juliazion@ymail.com.  She would LOVE to hear from you!

 Let Ritvalsky

“My art, regardless of the medium I’m using, is simply an end result of whatever happiness runs from my brain through my hands to my tools each day that I work. This talent brings great energy to my life and I am honored to have it. My art isn’t about making a statement, unless that statement is to bring a smile to someone when they see my work.”

The Mosaic Community Land Trust Gallery is located at 10 South Hanover Street across the street from the Brick House. For more information on MOSAIC Community Land Trust, please visit and subscribe to the blog here or become a friend on Facebook. Pottstown is on the brink of revitalization so you can follow the development of the gardens and other events by getting connected.
