The 34th annual dinner of the Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame will be held on Sunday, October 2nd in the DeNaples Center of the University of Scranton, 800 Mulberry Street. Cocktail hour begins at 4:45 PM with dinner at 6:00 PM.
This year the Northeast Chapter will induct 10 local athletes. Tickets are $40.00 per person, $25.00 for children 10 years and up, and may be obtained by contacting Bob Walsh (570.346.2228) or Alice Foley (570.346.5796)
The Lehigh Valley Arts Council announces to the community the release of the new ARTix Passport to the Arts, a buy-one, get-one-free ticket to eighteen arts and cultural venues through June 30, 2017. PITTSTON TWP. — A new charter flight from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport will whisk vacationers nonstop to Freeport in the Bahamas and back beginning in September.
Operated by Regional Sky, the initial flight will leave the airport at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 and return Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. Travelers will be able to purchase flight-only tickets for $552 or a flight and four-night vacation package starting at $977.

Laureldale Mayor Fred Feltenberger said he’s angry that borough police officers are ignoring his order to collect more information from people they encounter on patrol.
As punishment, Feltenberger said, he ordered police to stop issuing parking or traffic citations during September.
“If they don’t do the work, they don’t get the reward,” Feltenberger said of the four full-time and four part-time officers.
That work, Feltenberger explained, was his order to stop people on the street, ask their identity and what they are doing in the borough, then fill out contact cards on the people they question.

The lead singer of a classic rock band that is among the biggest-selling of all time – and who also had six Top 20 solo hits — will complete the lineup for the opening week of the Sands Bethlehem Event Center, the venue just announced.
Glenn Frey, who sang The Eagles’ breakthrough hit “Take It Easy” and No. 1 songs “New Kid in Town” and “Heartache Tonight,” then topped the charts solo with “The Heat is On” and “You Belong to the City,” will play the event center on May 18, the venue announced on its website, www.sandseventcenter.com.
