Construction Of Pottstown Mini-Golf Course Underway
POTTSTOWN, PA — Autumn may be here and winter may be coming — but so is mini-golf season.
Construction has begun on the course and officials say they hope it may be completed before winter.
The project has been at least three years in the making.
Located along High Street, west of Manatawny Creek and adjacent to the former Pottstown Metal Weld building, now home to the Carousel at Pottstown facility, the mini-golf course is meant to complement the carousel and be an attraction for users of the Schuylkill River Trail.

Ron Downie Reflects On 20 Years In Pottstown Public Service
Editor’s note: Very nice article by Evan Brandt on Ron Downie’s public service to Pottstown.
POTTSTOWN — When Ron Downie first came to the Pottstown area as an infant, his family for a time got water from a hand-pumped well and used an outhouse at a home outside Harmonyville.
Now, he composes poetry on a hand-held electronic device thinner than most books of poetry and shares his words with the mere touch of a button.
All of which is to say he has seen times change. And he has changed with them.
One of four children of Scottish immigrants, Downie has alternately been a landscaper, a Firestone plant worker, a bartender, a ski-slope operator, a school board member, the president of the Schuylkill River Heritage Area and the AMBUCS and the Building and Industries Exchange.
Pottstown’s Annual FamilyFest
It’s that time of year again, Pottstown’s Annual FamilyFest. This year the event will occur on Thursday March 17, 2011 from 5 – 7 p.m. One big change for this year is the venue site; this year’s FamilyFest will be held at Pottstown High School. All the wonderful activities and food will be available on the same floor, with one big plus, no stairs to have to contend with! Our theme for this year is “Participate in Your Community: Pottstown Families Play, Work, & Serve Together”.
Family Fest is sponsored by the Pottstown Family Center, Pottstown Parks & Recreation & PEAK – Pottstown School District.
