NORTH COVENTRY — A 19-year-old suspected of stealing from the Kohl’s in the Coventry Mall eluded police for just about 20 minutes before his capture in woods near the Route 100 overpass over River Road Thursday afternoon.

After 2:30 p.m., police were called to track down the young man who allegedly took some items from the store and ran on foot.

Originally, the suspect was described as having dark-colored pants and a white shirt, but as the pursuit evolved, witnesses said he took the shirt on and off.

The suspect, who police have not yet named, was eventually captured by several police officers from North Coventry, West Pottsgrove and Pottstown in the woods down the embankment from Route 100 on the 300 block of River Road.

Keim Street Bridge CLOSED

Due to a failure of a similar bridge in Western PA, the PADOT consultant bridge inspection team inspected Keim Street Bridge, in Pottstown today to determine the extent of deterioration of the bridge. The inspection found unsafe conditions. At this time to preserve safety, the PADOT inspector strongly recommend closing the bridge to all traffic effective 10/13/2010 until further notice. A detour will be installed directing traffic to the closed crossing (Hanover Street).

Demograhics, Border Development And Low-Income Riverfront Housing

Hopefully,  looking at these figures will help illustrate why Pottstown needs to move away from low-income and Section 8 housing if we ever want to revitalize this community.  Looking at the numbers, we are again at the bottom.  And we wonder why development happens all around us?  Not really!  Welcome to the donut hole.  You can find this information at city-data.com

Owen J. Roberts “Gang Of Five” Are At It Again

Looks like the situation at Owen J. Roberts is still far from resolved.  There are plots within plots, secret meetings and agendas.  What about the education of the students??  It seems as though education is the last thing on certain people’s minds.

You people better get your act together before the district’s reputation is ruined!!!

OMG this just in – look what made the Philadelphia Inquirer –
