Cops: Irate Wawa Customer Tries To Strangle Worker

When Wawa employees told Terron Reed his order couldn’t be prepared as requested, he apparently didn’t take the news too well.

Instead of adjusting his meal, the 36-year-old Bear, Del., man threw a coffee display stand at a worker, then tried to strangle her, threw her to the ground, and threatened to shoot other employees before leaving the convenience store, according to Delaware State Police.

Police said the bizarre altercation happened at the Wawa at 1400 Beaverbrook Plaza in New Castle about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

Monroeville police are investigating a threatening letter received by municipal manager Lynette McKinney on Thursday night at her home, an official said Friday morning.

Mayor Greg Erosenko said the letter threatens McKinney and her family in retaliation for recent disciplinary actions she has taken against former police chief Doug Cole, who she fired Wednesday.  Police were dusting the letter for fingerprints as of this morning, he said.

McKinney was not available for comment this morning.  Police Chief Steve Pascarella also was not available for comment.

“If we can find out who the actor or actors are, we will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law,” Erosenko said.

A Maidencreek Township man was arrested after he pointed a loaded handgun at a couple in another vehicle in a road rage incident on Route 222 in Richmond Township, authorities said Monday.

Travis Heebner, 26, of the 6200 block of Allentown Pike was stopped by Muhlenberg Township police as he entered Business Route 222 in the township shortly after the incident Sunday.

Police said they seized his 9 mm pistol, which was on his lap in a nylon holster when he was stopped. Heebner has a permit for the weapon, which had one round in the chamber and 15 more in its magazine, according to court records.

Muhlenberg police turned Heebner over to Fleetwood police, who responded to the victims’ 9-1-1 call because they patrol Richmond Township.
