Girl, 2, A Victim Of Forty Fort Murder-Suicide

FORTY FORT, PA – Police said Nicholas Shultz shot his 2-year-old daughter and then turned the gun on himself, in what the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office has ruled a murder-suicide.

Officers from Forty Fort and surrounding towns were dispatched to 52 Wesley St. at 11 a.m. Sunday on the report of a man with a gun threatening to kill himself and his daughter.

When police entered the house, they found a young girl, Camryn Lee Shultz, dead on the couch with one gunshot wound to the head, police said. Her father, Nicholas, 34, was found on the floor, also with one gunshot wound to the head, and was then transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Plains Township before eventually dying at the hospital, according to police.

Bus Driver And Three Passengers In Critical Condition Following Fatal Crash

NEW COLUMBIA, PA — One woman was killed and 44 people were injured early this morning when a Greyhound commercial passenger bus and tractor trailer collided on Interstate 80 in Union County.

Approximately 20 ambulances from five counties responded to the crash site on Interstate 80 westbound at Mile Marker 206, about four miles west of the Route 15 interchange in White Deer Township.

State police at Milton said the accident occurred at 1:41 a.m., but no other details have been released.

A total of 49 passengers, plus the bus driver, were aboard the passenger bus traveling non-stop from New York City to Cleveland, Ohio.

Search Warrants Filed In Sherman Hills Shooting Of Two Children

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Search warrants filed in Saturday’s shooting of two children in the Sherman Hills apartment complex suggest the father was upset that two men were inside the mother’s apartment in Building 328.

According to the affidavits, William Cash known as Junie, was visiting Diana Page and was allowed inside the apartment through a rear sliding glass door.  As Cash entered, a man exited the front door.

Cash asked Page what was going on in which Page did not respond.  Cash then asked his cousin to go outside and tell him what was going on inside the apartment.

As Cash was talking to his cousin, two men approached him from behind saying,  “Yo come here bro,” the affidavit says.

Geisinger Among 15 Top Health Systems In U.S.

DANVILLE, PA – A new study ranks Geisinger Health System as one of the top 15 health systems in the United States.

The fourth annual Thomson Reuters 15 Top Health Systems study recently reported Geisinger was among the 15 hospital systems singled out for achievement in clinical outcomes based on balanced system-wide clinical performance according to data collected from more than 300 organizations. That performance measures included care quality, patient perception of care and efficiency.

Geisinger was one of just two Pennsylvania healthcare systems making the list. The other was Main Line Health in Bryn Mawr.

Plane Crash Near Columbia/Sullivan County Border

A small plane crashed on top of a mountain in Jackson Township, Columbia County.  The crash occurred about 9 p.m. last night (Sunday).  Jackson Township is on the border of Columbia and Sullivan Counties.  The nearest town is Benton, PA.

The pilot was 22-year-old James Caswell of Lake Ariel, PA.  Fortunately, Caswell was rescued.  He maintained contact with rescue officials via his cell phone.  The area of the crash is very remote which was a challenge for rescuers.  The plane crashed on top of a mountain, which was described as “all boulders and laurel” by Benton Fire Chief, Ron Robbins.

Geisinger Medical Center‘s Life Flight helicopter found the crash site and was able to help rescue workers, coming a mile and a half up from the bottom of the mountain, find the plane.

Caswell sustained injuries.  The crash is under investigation.
