Former Wilkes-Barre Police Officers Plead Guilty To Conspiring To Cheat Credit Union

WILKES-BARRE, PA — Former Wilkes-Barre police officer Tino Ninotti signed his brother’s name on loan documents to secure a loan from the Wilkes-Barre City Employees Federal Credit Union, a federal prosecutor said Monday.

Ninotti’s brother, Dino Ninotti, was in Afghanistan when the document was signed in March 2012, U.S. Assistant Attorney Michelle Olshefski said.

Ninotti, 36, of Hunlock Township, and former city police officer Jason Anthony, 35, of Wilkes-Barre, were before U.S. District Court Judge A. Richard Caputo to plead guilty to conspiring to commit bank fraud.

Caputo accepted their guilty pleas after quizzing the two former officers that they understood they gave up their appellate rights.

Federal Grand Jury Indicts PA Cyber Charter School Founder Nicholas Trombetta And His Accountant

Nicholas Trombetta, a onetime wrestling coach who founded the wildly successful PA Cyber Charter School, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a variety of fraud and tax charges.

A 41-page indictment made public this morning outlined the federal government’s allegations against Mr. Trombetta and his accountant, Neal Prence.

“This investigation is active and continues,” U.S. Attorney David Hickton said during a press conference this morning at the FBI field office on Pittsburgh‘s South Side.

Federal investigators tallied the amount they said Mr. Trombetta stole at $990,000.

Stores Raided In Pottstown Food Stamp Fraud Investigation

POTTSTOWN — Two people were arrested after police served search warrants at three borough stores in connection with a fraud investigation involving food stamp access cards.

Adbu Aljash, 38, of Pottstown, and Kuldip Kaur, 40, of King of Prussia, were both charged with felony corrupt organization and other related charges, according to court documents.

Kaur worked at the Quick Mart Grocery Store on 55 E. High Street. Customers were able to buy cigarettes, non-food items and could receive cash back on their government-issued ACCESS cards, according to court records.

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General had been monitoring Kaur and the store since last August 2012, according to the police report.
