James Wolpert’s run on ‘The Voice‘ came to an end Tuesday evening.

The young man from Lancaster advanced to the final five last week via an instant save.

But on this week’s elimination show to determine the three Voice finalists, he was the first contestant sent home.

Editor’s note:  Somebody has to go home every week.  The competition is very strong this season.  Not surprised by the order of eliminations thus far.

Curly-topped high-school senior DeAndre Brackensick is heading home to San Jose, Calif., after getting booted Thursday from “American Idol,” but it didn’t come as a huge surprise.

After the studio audience filed out, the heartbroken teen spent close to 10 minutes soliciting last words of advice from the judges at center stage — and admitted he knew the end was near.

“My mama told me this was gonna be the day,” he told the judges.  “She kind of predicted it. I felt it too.”

American Stunned By James Durbin’s Elimination From American Idol

The overall mood is ugly with many people over James Durbin’s shocking departure from American Idol last night:  http://www.tvguide.com/news/american-idol-backstage-1033032.aspx  Many people are swearing they are done with American Idol.  There was a similar outcry over Pia Toscano, however, James Durbin was expected, by many people, to win the competition.  Durbin’s consistency every week and his ability to pick the right songs to showcase his talent were making him a standout with the judges and fans.

There is some good news to report.  James Durbin Day will go on as planned Saturday, May 14th in Santa Cruz, CA.  Idol has relented and is allowing the celebration to continue.  Here is a link to the events:  http://www.facebook.com/notes/santa-cruz-beach-boardwalk/durbin-day-is-on/10150186732578194  We commend American Idol for making an exception for this very exceptional young man.

Paul McDonald Goes Home On American Idol

Paul McDonald is a nice guy and I do like him, however, I feel the other seven contestants have more potential and it was his time.

Vote for the Worst has been thwarted in their attempts to influence the voting to eliminate Haley or Lauren.  My faith has been restored after last week’s vote that sent Pia home too early.

America got it right this week.

We wish Paul well and hope he finds success.

Nice performances by Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna.

Karen Rodriguez Goes Home On American Idol

The lovely and talented Karen Rodriguez was sent packing tonight on American Idol.  Karen was in the bottom three again this week.  Unfortunately, even after a great performance of “Hero” by Mariah Carey, she was not saved by the judges.  Randy said it was not a unanimous decision so at least one judge wanted to save her.  All three judges must be in agreement to use their save.

Lee DeWyze, last year’s American Idol winner, performed a song from his new album titled “Beautiful Like You”.  It was a nice song with an alternative feel.  Lee’s presence was a reminder of how much has changed on Idol since he was crowned the winner last season.  Only Randy Jackson remains on the panel of judges.

The Black Eyed Peas performed their new song, which they dedicated to the people of Japan, titled “Just Can’t Get Enough”.  Not sure if it was just me but people did not seem all that thrilled they were making a guest appearance based on reaction from the audience.  However, when they finished singing their new song, the cheering was loud.

Rounding out the bottom three this week were Haley Reinhart and Naima Adedapo.  Both received some criticism from the judges after Tuesday’s performances.  Haley is not a stranger to the bottom three.

Buena suerte, Karen!

Vote For The Worst Saves Casey James Again!

BOO HISS! Michael Lynche went home tonight and Casey James survived another elimination.  However, after this week, his luck runs out.  I will be shocked beyond words if he beats out Crystal or Lee next week.

Great performances tonight.  Good advice for the contestants.  Chris Daughtry is living proof you don’t have to win Idol to make it big!
