Heroin, Cash Seized, 3 People Arrested In Drug Investigations

HAZLETON, PA — Three people face drug charges and cash and drugs were seized in two separate investigations Thursday, police said.

In one of the cases, a woman trying to flee police struck an undercover vehicle, police said.

Police identified the woman as Passion Tairi Flores, 24, of West Birch Street.

According to police: A controlled drug buy with Flores was arranged near the intersection of North Locust and Third streets at approximately 5 p.m. As officers closed in on Flores, she accelerated her vehicle and tried to get away, striking an undercover vehicle and preventing her escape. Flores and her passenger, Anthony Morales Jr. 22 of Brooklyn, New York were arrested. Approximately $900 in cash and 220 packets of heroin were seized from her vehicle.

Police Charge Man Shot By Wilkes-Barre Officer

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, PA — The man shot and wounded by police in a Hanover Township parking lot was hit Thursday with felony assault and drug trafficking charges alleging he tried to run down two officers while speeding away from a crack deal he made with a police informant, according to court documents.

Bong Bob Kim, 30, of 9 Harkins Lane, Wilkes-Barre, remained hospitalized at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township on Thursday night as state police filed charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal use of a communication facility, drug trafficking, fleeing police and reckless endangerment.

Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis on Thursday night identified Wilkes-Barre police Officer Joseph Sinavage as the officer who shot Kim.

According to a police affidavit filed in court, a state police vice unit and Wilkes-Barre police were conducting a joint drug operation at about 2 p.m. Wednesday in the area of the Family Dollar on Carey Avenue when things went awry.

Police: Man Found Unresponsive In Cab Had Over $100,000 In Heroin

HAZLE TOWNSHIP, PA — An unresponsive man in the back of a taxi cab awoke to a slew of charges after police say they found over $100,000 of heroin in his possession on Sunday morning.

According to police reports:

State police responded to assist EMS personnel at the Ramada Inn on North Church Street at 8:20 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive male in a taxi cab. When the 24-year-old man from Scranton was awoken by officers, he was found to allegedly be in possession of 3 ounces of raw heroin, a street value of approximately $5,000. The man was also found to allegedly have 10,280 glassine bags of heroine, with a street value of over $100,000.

Mon Valley Narcotics Probe Leads To Multiple Arrests

Allegheny County police announced 17 felony arrest warrants were obtained in connection with an eight-month narcotics investigation in the Mon Valley.

Suspects reside in McKeesport, White Oak, Glassport, Clairton, Jefferson Hills and the North Side of Pittsburgh, according to a county police news release.

County detectives made numerous buys of heroin and crack cocaine, resulting in the seizure of 5 12 bricks of heroin, the release stated.

Nine of the 17 suspects were apprehended early on Friday by detectives and officers from the county, McKeesport and White Oak police departments; the other eight remained at-large as of presstime.

2 Arrested In Pottstown Murder

POTTSTOWN, PA — Two men were arrested Friday for the murder of Steven Mitchell, who was found dead in his car on June 5 in the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue.

John Anthony Parson Jr., 18, of Pottstown, and Tyron Joab Witherspoon, 22, of Philadelphia, both face murder, robbery and conspiracy charges, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Parson was arrested Friday morning in Lower Pottsgrove and Witherspoon was arrested in Philadelphia, the D.A.’s office said.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a witness told police Mitchell was shot in Liberty Alley during a transaction where a group of people intended to buy crack cocaine and a 9 mm handgun.

Drugs, Guns Found Across Greater Nanticoke Area Schools

NANTICOKE, PA — City police and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force arrested four people and seized a large amount of heroin, crack cocaine and handguns from a house in a school zone.

The house 424 Kosciuszko St. is directly across from the Greater Nanticoke Area high school, middle school and elementary school, and the recess yard for elementary school students, according to charges filed.

Authorities said they found five handguns in which three were loaded, ammunition, 450 heroin packets in a shoe box, crystal methamphetamine, a digital scale, nearly 50 heroin packets scattered in different bedrooms, two marijuana grinders and smoking pipes, marijuana, and nearly $6,000 throughout the house late Thursday afternoon.

Allegheny County Police Arrest 29 On Drug Charges In Pitcairn Area

Allegheny County Police arrested 29 Pitcairn-area residents on drug charges in a 10-month undercover investigation that yielded warrants for 51 suspected “low-level dealers,” Superintendent Charles Moffatt said.

The sting began about 6:20 a.m. Friday and extended into the afternoon. One suspect suffered a heart attack during the course of his arrest and was hospitalized, Moffatt said.

Officers recovered one weapon and small quantities of prescription pills, crack cocaine and heroin. Investigators sought warrants for the suspects after observing them sell drugs at least three times each between March 13 and Nov. 15, Moffatt said.

Six People Arrested On Drug Trafficking Charges

HANOVER TWP. — Two people were arrested after authorities allege they sold crack cocaine near a school and four others were picked up on heroin trafficking charges.

Egerton “Repo” Wood, 37, of Boland Avenue, Hanover Township, and Geovanni Henry Johnson, 32, of Horton Street, Wilkes-Barre, were arrested earlier this week on charges they sold crack cocaine within 1000 feet of the Hanover Area Memorial School on West Saint Marys Road.

Authorities allege they seized crack cocaine, marijuana, a scale and cash during the arrest and execution of a search warrant.

Authorities Seize 2,000 Bags Of Heroin In Wilkes-Barre

A staggering amount of drugs, including 2,000 bags of heroin, were recovered Friday night in Wilkes-Barre.

Police said a large amount of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, “proceeds from drug trafficking” and in total, more than $45,000 worth of heroin were seized at about 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Kenneth Evans, 21, of 19 S. Empire St., was arrested at his home after a search of his residence recovered the illegal substances. Police said Evans had been targeted for dealing drugs in the Sherman Hills area and from his home.

Two Arrested In Kingston Drug Raid

KINGSTON, PA — Police and agents with the Luzerne County Drug Task Force arrested two people Friday when they allegedly attempted to flee a Market Street residence with a large amount of heroin and crack cocaine.

Authorities knocked on the door at 476 Market St. just before noon as Kevin A. Klass, 25, and Shannon Morton, 35, attempted to escape out the front door. Klass and Morton were stopped on the front porch, where they encountered a police sergeant and a canine, police said.

Klass allegedly had 171 heroin packets stamped “Superman,” eight bags of crack cocaine and $750 cash.  Morton allegedly had a heroin packet hidden in her mouth, police said.

Police Charge Lebanon City Man After Seizing Heroin, Crack In His Home

A drug task force took a Lebanon city man into custody late last month after reportedly finding heroin and crack in his home, according to the county district attorney’s office.

In a search of his home in the 1200 block of Willow Street on July 25, officers uncovered 180 bags of heroin and approximately 5.9 grams of crack cocaine in 30-year-old Victor Martinez’ bedroom, according to a release from the district attorney’s office.

Wilkes-Barre Man Arrested After Gun, Crack Cocaine Found

WILKES-BARRE — A man who suffered a gunshot wound in May was arrested Sunday after police allege they found crack cocaine and a gun in a Scott Street residence.

Police said Erick Mondelice, 23, was prohibited from possessing a .9mm handgun due to a robbery conviction.

The gun, ammunition, two plastic bags of marijuana, a bag of crack cocaine and a bag of methamphetamine were allegedly found inside 150 Scott St. on Sunday when police investigated a domestic fight involving Mondelice.
