Fifth Annual Summer Fundraiser for Artfusion
Pottstown, PA – Looking for something fun to do in August? Make plans to join ArtFusion 19464 for their fifth annual summer beef and beer fundraiser on Saturday, August 8 from 6-9pm. This year’s event will again be held at the ArtFusion facility at 254 E. High St.
Advance tickets are $20, if purchased before July 25. Tickets purchased after this date are $25. If the event has not sold out, tickets will be available at the door. Tickets can be bought online at http://www.artfusion19464.org, in person at ArtFusion, or over the phone by calling 610-326-2506. Guests can choose a beef entrée, or a vegetarian sandwich option.
Victory Brewing Company has once again generously donated their amazing beer for this event. The Butcher and the BBQ will be making the hot beef sandwiches and Montesano Bros. will again be creating their amazing side salads and veggie sandwiches. The Community Gardens in Pottstown will be donating a fresh garden salad for everyone to enjoy. There will be soda and water in addition to Victory beer and homemade desserts to finish off the meal.
Along with enjoying great food and great beer, guests will have the chance to win fun door prizes and try their luck at a 50/50 raffle. Guests could win a $50 Wegman’s gift card, a gift basket from local soapmaker Scentual Gardens, a gift card from Connections coffee shop, goodies from Milkman Cake Shoppe, a “Shop Local” gift basket donated by Dolan Law Group, a basket of cheer donated by the ArtFusion Board of Directors and featuring a selection of red and white wines, and their choice of original artwork. Each guest will receive one door prize chance free with their paid ticket. Additional tickets will be one sale throughout the night. Proceeds benefit ArtFusion 19464’s upcoming fall educational exhibit Her Story. This show will feature artwork inspired by women’s history.

The goal of these classes is to help students develop their creative skills through self-expression and independence. ArtFusion’s gallery hosts rotating shows featuring local artists. The gallery also sells handcrafted, one-of-a-kind gift items. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. The gallery is closed Sunday and Monday.
Althouse Arboretum Seeking Donations And Matching Grant For Youth Programs
Below you’ll find the proposed trail map, letter from the Executive Director (Ken) and both the business and individual donation requests (PDF files). Our goal is to reach $5,000 by March 20th and the only way we will do that is with your help. This is the Arboretum’s first matching funds grant and it would be awesome to start off with a great success.
All donations will be matched by The Greater Pottstown Foundation to allow the SAVE Alliance Foundation to provide free after-school and summer outdoor experiences for low income and at-risk youth from the Pottstown area. Not only will the donation help create a first-class arboretum, but it will also go to provide such a wonderful service for the region’s children.

Pottstown Halloween Parade Receives Two $1,000 Donations In As Many Days
POTTSTOWN, PA — In this town, the axiom is simple, ask and you will receive.
Just two days after announcing another $4,000 is needed to put on the Pottstown Halloween Parade, $2,600 in donations and pledges have been received.
The parade — co-sponsored by the Pottstown Rotary Club, AMBUCS and the Pottstown Parks and Recreation Department — requires about $4,700 to stage each year, primarily to pay the costs of police protection.
La Festa to Renovate Electric City Sign
One of downtown Scranton’s largest events is coming to the rescue of one of its most iconic landmarks.
La Festa Italiana of Lackawanna County will contribute up to $10,000 to renovate the Electric City sign overlooking Courthouse Square before the annual Labor Day weekend celebration of Italian culture and cuisine.
Chris DiMattio, La Festa president and chairman, said the organization looks for community projects it can take on and thought the Electric City sign would be a natural.

National Penn Bank Supports The Arts In Pottstown
POTTSTOWN, PA – National Penn Bank recently presented ArtFusion with a $2,150 donation. The donation will help fund afterschool programs at the non-profit community art center. ArtFusion’s EITC-funded programs give children an opportunity to explore the arts, to express themselves in a new way and to learn that, while they may not be the best athlete, or get straight As in the classroom, they have a talent for creating.
The donation was made through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit program (EITC).
EITC is a Pennsylvania program that provides tax credits to eligible businesses contributing an Educational Improvement Organization. Tax credits would be equal to 75% of a contribution up to a maximum of $400,000 per taxable year. This credit can be increased to 90% of the contribution, if a business agrees to provide same amount for two consecutive tax years. A business must apply for this program and then make a contribution to an organization that has also been approved.

Children’s Gets $5 Million Gift From Giant Food
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia announced Friday a $5 million gift from Giant Food Stores L.L.C. toward the $425 million Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care under construction at the hospital’s University City campus.
The hospital in June received a $50 million donation toward the outpatient center scheduled to open next year from hospital trustee Reid Buerger and his family, which owns a Fort Washington financial services firm.

Hanover Based Utz Quality Foods Celebrates 90th Anniversary By Giving Away $90,000

It is always gratifying to see corporations who remember their roots and care for the communities that helped make them what they are. Utz Quality Foods, maker of Utz Potato Chips, is celebrating their 90th anniversary and gave away $90,000 to nine Hanover organizations as a way to pay it forward in their community.
Tuesday afternoon, the representatives of the nine organizations gathered at Utz headquarters in Hanover to receive their checks and accept thanks from the Utz family for helping make their business the success it is today. Utz is the largest independently owned and family owned snack manufacturer in the country.
The following organizations each received $10,000:
Hanover Area Family YMCA, the YWCA of Hanover, Adams-Hanover Counseling Services, the Visiting Nurse Association of Hanover and Spring Grove, UCP of South Central Pennsylvania, “Sweet Charities” cancer patient fund, Saint Matthew Lutheran Church organ fund, the Hanover Soccer Club and the Hanover Area Council of Churches.
