Former Amity Cop Convicted Of Shoplifting

NORRISTOWN, PA — A former Berks County police officer finds himself on the other side of the law now that he is a convicted shoplifter.

Former Amity Township Police Officer Glenn James Oesterling, 36, has been sentenced in Montgomery County Court to two years’ probation after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of retail theft in connection with a June 2013 incident that occurred at the Upland Square Giant store in West Pottsgrove. Judge William R. Carpenter, who accepted a plea agreement in the case, also ordered Oesterling to complete 36 hours of community service.

Specifically, Oesterling admitted that he stole items valued at $296.35 from the store on June 18. Authorities said Oesterling passed the store checkout area without paying for merchandise he placed into blue, reusable shopping bags in the shopping cart he was pushing.

Oesterling did not offer an explanation for his conduct.

Dolce And Gabbana Convicted Of Tax Evasion, Sentenced To Jail

From sharp, tailored suits to orange jumpsuits.

Storied designer duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were found guilty of tax evasion on one of two counts, a Milan court ruled Wednesday afternoon.

The designers were each sentenced to one year and eight months behind bars for failing to declare $268 million to authorities, a decision reached after a three hour-long jury deliberation.  They were also ordered to cough up $670,000 to tax authorities.  The designers were cleared of the second count which dealt with the tax rate paid and valuation of all D&G assets.

Sandusky Convicted Of 45 Counts, Plans To Appeal

BELLEFONTE, Pa. — Jerry Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of child sexual abuse Friday night and faces spending the rest of his life in state prison. His attorney said he would appeal the verdict.

Sandusky’s attorney, Joseph Amendola, asked Judge John Cleland to allow Sandusky to be released on house arrest, but Cleland summarily rejected the request, saying: “Bail is revoked. Mr. Sandusky is remanded to the custody of the sheriff.”

Sandusky was immediately led out of the courthouse in handcuffs as a large crowd of onlookers cheered. Sentencing was set for late September.
