Dispute Leaves Revel In The Dark

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Revel, the $2.4 billion former casino hotel sold this week for $82 million, went dark – literally – Thursday afternoon.

Power was cut off around 2:20 after its supplier, ACR Energy, made good on multiple threats to new owner Glenn Straub and shut off the lights to the 6.2 million-square-foot, 47-story Boardwalk property.

“Everything is out, it’s a dead building,” a security guard said after the plug was pulled.

It was a hard-to-fathom turn of events even for the endlessly twisty saga of the Revel, once predicted to be an Atlantic City game-changer and now standing tall, dark, and empty in the unpredictable hands of Straub, a maverick Florida businessman and polo player.

Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office Gets Emergency Order To Shut South Side Bar Levelz

Editor’s note:  This says it all, “a Saturday stabbing at Levelz injured two people, one of whom witnesses told police was left holding his entrails.”  33 police responses in about a year and a half!

The Allegheny County district attorney’s office has obtained an emergency court order to shut down Levelz Sports Lounge on Pittsburgh’s South Side.

“We had a meeting with the owners to try to talk some sense into them, but they did not comply,” DA’s office spokesman Mike Manko said.

The bar was also contacted by the county’s Nuisance Bar Task Force.

The bar’s owners could not be reached immediately for comment.

Mountain Laurel Performing Arts Center Closing

A music venue touted as a “crown jewel” for the Poconos when it opened looks like it will observe its 10th anniversary this summer by again being shuttered, with no concerts scheduled.

Mountain Laurel Performing Arts Center in Lehman Township, Pike County, without fanfare broke ties with the second management agency it has had in two years and, for the third time in its history, has closed the venue, with few prospects for activity this summer.

The most recent manager, Christopher Perrotti of Rhode Island, confirmed in an email that he was let go in August. He said he believes that the center’s owners “have closed it down, which is not good for the venue’s future.”

A woman who answered the phone at O’Neill Properties Group of King of Prussia, Montgomery County, one of the center’s owners, referred questions to a spokesman who did not respond to a telephone message left for him.
