The 8th Annual Oktoberfest – Building A Better Boyertown, September 18th & 19th

The 8th Annual Oktoberfest is a fundraising event for Building a Better Boyertown. Oktoberfest includes local food vendors, a beer garden, live music, raffle, craft vendors, local businesses and organizations, and a lot of fun!

 
Boyertown kicks off it’s annual Oktoberfest, a regional fund raising event for the Building a Better Boyertown. The annual event kicks off around the same time as the world famous Oktoberfest in Germany.

 
The Boyertown area and its residents boast strong heritage ties to Germany and thus their couldn’t be a more appropriate place to host such an event. In the Oktoberfest style, the event features some of the regions best local food, beer, and wine vendors. Other festival highlights include live music, traditional German dances, crafters and other local businesses and organizations.

 
The event will start Friday night, September 18th, 2015 at 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm and run throughout the day on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 at 11:00 am – 9:00 pm. The mayor will kick off the celebration with the tapping of the keg ceremony at 11:00 am.

 
However, the fun doesn’t stop then. Many of Boyertown’s local businesses feature music and brews well into the evening hours!

 
PARKING INFORMATION
During Oktoberfest parking is available on Philadelphia and Reading Avenues, the lot of the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles S. Reading Avenue, and the lots of National Penn Bank, and Good Shepherd Church, St. Johns Church. North Reading Avenue, second street and Walnut Street.

BOYERTOWN’S 8TH ANNUAL CRUISE NIGHT

In the past years Building A Better Boyertown (BBB) has hosted a series of community events on the 3rd Saturday of each month. With the permission of the Borough of Boyertown, BBB’s 8th Annual Cruise Night will hit the streets of Boyertown on July 18, 2015, with a rain date of July 25, 2015.
BBB’s Cruise Night will take place along Route 562/Reading Avenue and the lots of National Penn Bank and the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles. Registration will be in the parking lot of Good Shepherd Church. Reading Avenue will be closed from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, from Third Street to Philadelphia Avenue/Route 73 and Fifth Street to Philadelphia Avenue/Route 73, detour directions will be posted and Philadelphia Avenue will remain open. Alternate parking for spectators will be available in the Town Center parking lot and along Walnut Street.
Over the year’s we’ve had over 300 cars participate and over 800 spectators attend the Car show in Downtown Boyertown!

‘Pickfest’ Coming To Boyertown October 25th

Reviving Live Arts At The State Theatre Of Boyertown

It’s a work in progress for owner Kevin Rhude, who would like to turn the 100-year-old State Theatre of Boyertown into a theater of the arts.

At 61 N. Reading Ave., the theater shows three to four movies a week at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays in addition to a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturdays and Sundays.

But Rhude of Boyertown wants the theater to go beyond film and be a venue for arts of all kinds.

Rhude purchased the State Theatre in 2008.  Having worked in real estate for more than 20 years, Rhude said he has an appreciation for old buildings and art.

Hodge Podge, To Move From Clayote To Boyertown Storefront

Editor’s note: Congratulations to my friend Heidi Bauer and her business partner Sandi Evans on moving their store to a larger location!  A win for downtown Boyertown!

Building a Better Boyertown commissioned a study which found that residents wanted to see two more businesses in Boyertown.

The first was a bookstore, and in July, The Book Nook opened at 130 E. Philadelphia Ave.

And now their second request has been met with Hodge Podge thrift and gift shop.

Heidi Bauer and Sandi Evans opened their consignment and area artisan gift store on Feb. 18 in the lower level of Clayote Art Studio and Gallery, 1 E. Philadelphia Ave.
