POTTSTOWN, PA — A 23-year-old man allegedly stabbed his mother multiple times with a butcher knife Wednesday evening on the 100 block of Third Street, apparently for no discernible reason, according to Pottstown police.

Jason James Payne, 23, was arrested shortly after he allegedly stabbed Pamela Hadrick and was taken to the Pottstown Police Department where he waived his rights to counsel and admitted to the crime, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by police.

The affidavit said that Payne was at home Wednesday night with his mother and younger brother and sister, both juveniles. He told police at some point before 7:45 p.m., he “got up and walked into the kitchen, grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed her.”

He said the knife was a foot long and “there was no problem between (him) and his mother that precipitated the stabbing,” according to the affidavit.

Two of the three men charged earlier this month with attempted murder and conspiracy in the 2011 ambush shooting of a man in his car in northeast Reading remain at large, authorities said Friday.

Police said they are seeking information on the whereabouts of Luis Jimenez Jr., 31, of the 1200 block of Pike Street and Jonathan Gonzalez, 27, of the 600 block of Bingaman
Street.

Criminal Investigator Eric B. Driesbach on Nov. 8 obtained arrest warrants for them and a third man, Tai-Mare L. Mercado, 24, in the June 22, 2011, shooting at 11th and Spring streets. Investigators said eyewitness accounts and DNA evidence recovered from sweatshirts that the suspects left behind while running from the scene linked the men to the shooting.

Police arrested Mercado on Nov. 12 in his residence of the 500 block of Lancaster Avenue.

Editor’s note:  This is one weird story!

HARVEYS LAKE – A receiver for the Misericordia University football team is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds state police at Wyoming believe were caused by four armed men who forced their way inside a house on Second Street early Wednesday morning.

Paul Brace Jr., 19, a former standout and 2012 graduate of Dallas High School, was asleep when he was shot twice in the head and three times in the chest and arm just after 1 a.m., state police said.

Brace was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township where he underwent several surgeries.  He was listed in critical condition, state police said.

Family members and friends said Brace was responding to certain commands such as squeezing his hand and moving his feet and toes.

More Disturbing News In Today’s Mercury

I read about another incident of road rage this morning.  What the hell is wrong with people?  If you are going to ride someone’s bumper, you run the risk of your car getting hit with anything the car in front of you kicks up.  Then you follow someone into a Wawa parking lot and threaten them with a baseball bat?  To make matters worse you say you have a gun!

Fortunately, the perp was drunk and had impaired reflexes.  The victim was not hit. Getting whacked in the head with an aluminum baseball bat would leave a nasty mark!  Thankfully, the gun threat was made up.  When the State Police pulled this piece of work over, he got a DUI along with assault and whatever else they can throw at him.  GOOD!

Another upstanding citizen from Exton tried to murder a Phoenixville resident.  19 years old and you’re trying to whack people?  Are the Soprano’s casting again or what?????

Yesterday, a story appeared about a 29 year-old pervert driving around Pottstown, buck-neeked in his Dad’s car, whilst kneading his noodle in front of little girls.  I think you are a.  Old enough to know better.   b.  Pretty creepy using your Dad’s car to commit a sex crime..  c. In need of some serious counseling.

What is this world coming to?  Makes my head hurt!
