Tim and Katie Macrina of Wyomissing can finally mail their Christmas cards.

The ABC-TV crew came to their door weeks ago to let them know they’d won $50,000 on the network’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight,” a five-episode series. In each episode, four families battle to create the best Christmas lights display for a prize of $50,000.

The Macrinas couldn’t leave the news off their Christmas cards, but were sworn to secrecy until the show aired Monday night.

“Tim sent them out today,” Katie, 35, said Monday night.

Anne Beiler (Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Founder) Is A ‘Secret Millionaire’

She called herself a country girl.  Growing up Amish is about as country as it gets.

Anne Beiler said she never lived in a city, but in August 2011 she spent five days in one of the poorest sections of Baltimore.

“Five days is not long, but it is long enough to get a feel for city life,” said Beiler, who will be featured on Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC’s “Secret Millionaire.”

In a unique twist, Beiler, founder of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, lived on Washington Street in East Baltimore —one of the most unsafe areas in the city — and worked with people and organizations in need of her help.

The managers of ABC 27 and CBS 21 said Tuesday it was too early to tell what changes may be in store for both local television stations now that an agreement is in place that requires both to be sold.

“We don’t know much and it’s to be seen (what will happen),” said Joe Lewin, the general manager of ABC 27.  “We’re going to become part of the largest broadcasting group in the country. That’s what we know. That could be a very good thing.”

Lewin was referring to Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which on Mondayannounced a $985 million deal that includes the acquisition of seven ABC affiliates — including ABC 27 — and a 24-hour cable news network.  Those stations are being sold by Allbritton Communications.

Pottstown’s Sunflower Truck Stop Cooks ‘Live With Kelly And Michael’

POTTSTOWN — Shorty’s Sunflower Cafe owner George Bieber and his Sunflower Truck Stop were cooking in the Big Apple on Friday.  It was all part of a contest being run by ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Michael” — the Truckin’ Amazing Cookoff.

In May, Ripa and Strahan announced their first-ever summer search for the nation’s best food truck.  “LIVE’s” viewers nominated their favorite food-on-the-go, and on Friday, May 17, the hosts announced the top 20 as selected by the “LIVE” production team.

Bieber and the Sunflower Truck Stop were among the top 20.

As soon as the show ended, viewers were encouraged to go to the “LIVE” website, watch videos submitted by the chefs, and cast their votes for the top 10.
