Blue Bell, Pa.—Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) will induct six distinguished individuals into its Alumni Hall of Fame during a special ceremony on Friday, Nov. 6 in the Parkhouse Hall Atrium at the College’s Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.
The 12th annual induction ceremony begins with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by a formal program at 7 p.m. and a dessert reception at 8:15 p.m. Tickets cost $50 and can be reserved by contacting Linda Pileggi at 215-641-6529 lpileggi@mc3.edu.
The following individuals are slated for induction into MCCC’s Alumni Hall of Fame for 2015:
Patrick Cunnane, of Glenside, is president and CEO of Advanced Sports International, which distributes such bicycle brands as Fuji, Kestrel, SE Racing, Breezer and Oval Concepts. He is heavily involved in bike advocacy efforts, currently serving on Mayor Nutter’s Philadelphia Bicycle Advocacy Board and as vice chair of People for Bikes. He is also past president of the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association, from which he earned the organization’s National Advocacy Award. After spending several semesters at MCCC, Cunnane transferred to Temple University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
Bradley Fox was a decorated Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps who served two combat tours in Iraq before enrolling in MCCC’s Municipal Police Academy. After graduating from the academy, Fox was hired as an officer with the Plymouth Township Police Department, and five years later, he became a K9 Officer after graduating from the Philadelphia Police Canine Academy with his partner Nick. On Sept. 13, 2012, Officer Fox was tragically killed in the line of duty as he and K-9 Officer Nick were responding to a call. Fox’s induction plaque will be presented to his wife Lynsay and children Kadence and Bradley, of Gilbertsville.
In 2012, a Bradley Fox Memorial Scholarship was established through MCCC’s Foundation in his memory. The scholarship supports deserving students enrolled in the College’s Municipal Police Academy or criminal justice studies program.
Mary Ann Pitts, of Linfield, was a member of MCCC’s mathematics faculty for 25 years before retiring in 2003. She started her career working in the institution’s Math Lab, but she soon discovered her real passion was for teaching. Today, Pitts continues to make an impact, as she established a scholarship for female students who are studying STEM disciplines at MCCC. In addition to an associate’s degree from Montgomery, Pitts holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Gwynedd-Mercy University and Arcadia University, respectively, all in mathematics.
Jan Kargulewicz, of King of Prussia, is this year’s “Rising Star” alumnus. He is a project manager at Vanguard, where began his career as a participant in the Vanguard Accelerated Development Program, which allows motivated college graduates to develop leadership skills. In addition to an associate’s degree in Social Sciences from MCCC, Kargulewicz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Columbia University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Today, he serves as vice chair of MCCC’s Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Joseph and Kathy Gallagher, of Ambler, are this year’s “Honorary Alumni” inductees. Strong supporters of MCCC’s mission, they served as co-chairs for the Foundation’s “Futures Rising” campaign, which raised $10.5 million for student scholarships. Mr. Gallagher is the owner and president of Gallagher Fluid Seals in King of Prussia, and he is a member of MCCC’s Foundation Board of Directors. Ms. Gallagher is the executive director of institutional advancement at the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Bryn Mawr. In 2014, the Gallagher’s received a national Community College Benefactor Award from the Council for Resource Development (CRD) for their commitment and service to MCCC.
With the new inductees, a total of 74 individuals have been selected from MCCC’s 58,000+ alumni for induction into the Alumni Hall of Fame over the past 13 years.
