A man acquitted of attacking Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams today filed a lawsuit against him.
Dquay Means alleges wrongful use of criminal process, malicious prosecution, false arrest, intentional infliction of emotional distress and defamation in the 15-page complaint filed in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.
Mr. Means and two other men were found not guilty on April 30 in the June 1 attack on Mr. Adams at 17th and East Carson streets on the South Side about 3 a.m.
The former principal of Brookline K-8 told a jury this morning that he never acted inappropriately in the shower or sauna at his gym.
Alfonzo DeIuliis, 37, testified for about 40 minutes on the second day of his criminal trial on charges of open lewdness, indecent assault, unlawful conduct and related charges stemming from three incidents at the LA Fitness in McCandless between February and August of last year.
Earlier in the trial, three people testified that Mr. DeIuliis either propositioned them or masturbated in front of them in the facility.

Continuing WalletHub’s theme of small business-related releases in honor of National Small Business Week (May 12-16), this study sought to identify the cities that are the most and least friendly to employees of small companies.
There is no shortage of commentary on the best and worst cities to start a small business, after all, and with such companies employing about 47% of the private workforce in this country, paying more than 40% of the private payroll, and creating more than 60% of the new jobs added over the past 20 years, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration, it bears asking what opportunities exist for the roughly 12.3% of people who are currently either unemployed or marginally attached to the labor force, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
More specifically, WalletHub’s used 10 different metrics – ranging from net small business job growth and industry variety to hours worked and average wages for new hires – to evaluate the state of small business in the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the United States. We then ranked the cities based on their overall attractiveness for job seekers.

WASHINGTON – U.S. small business sentiment jumped to its highest level in 6-1/2 years in April, which should bolster hopes of an acceleration in economic activity in the second quarter.
The National Federation of Independent Business said on Tuesday its Small Business Optimism Index rose 1.8 points to 95.2 last month, the highest reading since October 2007, when the economy was on the cusp of its worst recession since the 1930s.
“April’s reading took the index to a post-recession high and a recovery high level,” the NFIB said in a statement.
It adds to data such as employment and surveys on the manufacturing and services industries that have shown the economy regaining steam early in the second quarter after growth braked abruptly in the first three months of the year.
POTTSTOWN, PA – On Saturday, May 31, one talented young artist will receive a $10,000 scholarship from the Greater Pottstown Foundation. ArtFusion 19464 is proud to partner for the fourth year in a row with the Foundation to present this scholarship. The Greater Pottstown Foundation Scholarship for the Arts is designed to financially assist a local high school senior in obtaining a degree from accredited academic institutions of higher learning for study in the arts.
The scholarship is awarded based on two criteria: artistic performance as displayed at the Greater Pottstown Foundation Scholarship Art Exhibit at ArtFusion 19464, and an essay on why the applicant wants to continue their education in the arts. This year the scholarship has been expanded so that the applicant’s intended field of study can include a major or a minor in an arts-related field.
The 2014 applicants are: Abigail Boyce, Sabrina Brittain, Kayla Brown, Aundrea Ludy, Jaid Mark, Megan Nazaryk, Rachel Patten, Ashlyn Sassaman, Rachl Sovia, De’Von Stanton, and Allison Wessner. Each student will create three pieces for the show at ArtFusion. Also on display will be work from other students at the participating schools.
The show will run from May 31 through June 14 and can be seen any time during normal gallery hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 3pm. ArtFusion is closed on Sundays and Mondays. The award ceremony will take place at 1pm on May 31. The event is free and open to the public.
ArtFusion 19464 is a 501(c)3 non-profit community art center located at 254 E. High St. in downtown Pottstown. The school offers day, evening and weekend classes to all ages. The goal of these classes is to help students develop their creative skills through self-expression and independence. ArtFusion’s gallery hosts rotating shows featuring local artists. The gallery also sells handcrafted, one-of-a-kind gift items. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. The gallery is closed Sunday and Monday.
