CALN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A three-hour police standoff in the first block of Brighton Court in the Wedgewood Estates Development ended Monday evening with a township man reportedly committing suicide, police said.
Caln Police Lt. Jeffrey Nash said police went to the residence to interview a suspect on a criminal matter about 3 p.m. and failed to contact him. At that point a crisis management team was called and they, too, failed to contact him. About 6 p.m., a SWAT team entered the home and found Gerald Redden, 39, dead in the basement with a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound.
