A residential development proposed for Washington Township has hit a snag because of recent changes to the water and sewer plans.

Developer Richard Mingey wants to build a 772-unit community on 225 acres just outside of Bally on the southeast side of the Route 100 and Kutztown Road intersection, extending to the west side of Schwenkfelder Road.

The problem arose at a planned residential development hearing before the township supervisors Tuesday. Attorney Amy Good objected that the plans before the board do not reflect the sewer and water service change: from municipal to on-site.

A Review of Pottstown’s New Asia Steakhouse

I had lunch at the new Asia Steakhouse today, in the West End Shopping Center, Pottstown.  It was formerly Gourmet Buffet.  Walking in the door was shocking (in a good way) as the new décor is amazing.  It truly is a major remodel.  Gleaming hardwood floors, new booths, tables and chairs, dishes, flatware etc…  Everything smelled brand new and was impeccably clean.

The lunch menu has a nice variety to choose from.  We both opted for the combination meals.  The combo meals come with soup or salad and dessert.  The entrée comes with either white or egg fried rice.  The prices are very reasonable!  Our bill for two lunches and two iced teas was $17.97

We both started with Wonton soup which was nicely prepared and very flavorful.

I ordered Shredded Beef in Peking Sauce, which is spicy.  It included delicious tender beef and tons of vegetables.  My friend ordered General Tso’s Chicken which also looked appetizing and included broccoli.  The presentations were excellent.  The new plates, which are rectangular and white, enhance the artfully displayed and colorful food.  The egg fried rice was also good.

Portion sizes are just right for lunch.  Not too big, not too small.  I am full but not stuffed.

For dessert we were treated to a small square of chocolate cake with chocolate sauce decorating the plate.  A nice sweet treat to round off the meal.

Our server was very friendly as was the host who greeted us at the door.

My friend used the ladies’ room and she reported it is beautiful and clean!

You are dining in elegant surroundings but not paying a premium price for great food.

Welcome to Pottstown Asia Steakhouse.  Two Roy’s Rants thumbs up!

The High Street bridge is now closed over the Manatawny Creek in downtown Pottstown.  The detour is College Drive to South Hanover Street.  You could also use King Street.  The High Street bridge will remain closed for one year while it is replaced.

The Route 100 bridge over the Schuylkill River is still under construction and traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction.

More bridge work is scheduled for two 422 bridges in West and Lower Pottsgrove Townships.

The Keim Street bridge is on the replacement list but that is some years down the road and will remain closed.
